TRAINER PROFILES

KAT BLAZ - GET OVER FARMS

Kat grew up in Illinois and began riding when she could barely walk. She later began her show career in the Hunters at the age of 10. She then moved up through Hunters, Equitation and then Jumpers. While showing in the Jumpers she also began a career in both Dressage and Eventing. She landed her first job teaching lessons and working client horses at the age of 16 for a local H/J trainer. After graduating from high school she moved south to show on the Florida circuit. She then moved to Millbrook, New York to train and show. While training under Major Paul Lindsay she received her certification from the highly accredited British Horse Society. Over the span of her career, Kat had the opportunity to work with many well known trainers such as Capt. Mark Phillips, Michael Page, Jim Graham, Peter Kjellerup and Nancy Whitehead. After moving back to Illinois she graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree from Western Illinois University. After graduation Kat moved to Arizona to enjoy the warmer weather. She then began her career as a private instructor and later started Get Over It Farm. When not at the barn she enjoys spending time with her husband and her 2 mini rat terriers Nora and Luna.

Jenafer Forrest – Assistant Hunter/Jumper Trainer

Specializing in the beginner rider, ages 4 through adult, students of Jenafer Forrest, the Assistant Trainer with Get Over It Farms, will learn a strong foundation for all disciplines of riding. The objective is to discover and nurture each student's riding goals. Riders learn all aspects of horsemanship, including how to groom, tack-up their horse and value the three important principals: 1.Safety, 2.Having Fun, 3.Learning. Jenafer Forrest has been riding horses since age four. Her experience began in Michigan where she trained and attended at local shows. Jenafer became a camp counselor and junior riding instructor. After a hiatus during high school and college years, she returned to riding in Arizona. Using the principals of Centered Riding, students learn self-confidence through core balance and the understanding of how their body influences their horses movements. Jenafer has lived in the valley since 1992 and is a wife and mother of two children. Her role as a mother has been an enormous influence on her teaching style. Jenafer understands the importance of balancing school, horses and home-life. Students are encouraged to prioritize their responsibilities to ensure that they respect their obligations. Jenafer’s daughter, Graysen, is a Get Over It Farm team member.

Wendy Lynn - Wendy Lynn Arabians

Wendy Lynn
Wendy Lynn Arabians offers riding lessons, horse camp, and birthday parties. Instruction is available in all disciplines including saddleseat, hunter, and western pleasure, showmanship, equitation, and show hack. All levels are welcome, including beginners, as well as all ages of riders from 5 yrs and up. Everyone who rides is required to sign a liability waiver, and all minors are required to wear an approved riding helmet. Helmets will be provided initially if you do not have your own. Long pants are required, jeans are fine, and some sort of boot with a heel must be worn to ride. Cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance or you will be charged. If you have another commitment you know about ahead of time we usually just find another riding time that week so that varying schedules can be accommodated.

Lessons are private, hour long, and $40 each. In that lesson you learn how to lead, groom, and tack your horse as well as ride. Riding time is usually 30-45 minutes. Tons of individual attention is given on experienced, safe, and quality school horses. Friends and family members are welcome to stay and watch lessons as long as children are under supervision.

During the summer and school breaks kid's horse camp is also available. Camp is typically 4 hours long in the morning and $75 a day. During camp kids ride, do crafts, and play games. There is also additional time to cover things not normally in a regular lesson like clipping, bathing, showmanship, cleaning tack, and educational activities such as breeds, colors, and parts of the horse.

Birthday parties are offered for groups of up to 8 kids, 5 yrs and up. They include hands on grooming, feeding the horses treats, and a pony ride for all. Parties can be tailored for your individual needs.

WLA is an educational and friendly environment centered around safety, hard work, and THE BEST Arabian and Half-Arabian horses. Hopefully you'll be having a lot of fun while you're at it! Feel free to contact me with any questions, to schedule an appointment, tour the farm, or watch a lesson.
